What Pipeline Plastics does

A continuous extruder of HDPE pressure pipe. Pressure-grade polyethylene resin and a small dose of color and UV masterbatch go into extrusion lines and come out as pipe up to 65 inches in diameter, cut to sticks or coiled, then hydrostatically and dimensionally tested to AWWA, ASTM, NSF-61 and API specs. All scrap is reground and reworked. Five plants (Texas ×2, South Dakota, North Carolina, Idaho) sit close to the water, energy and mining regions they serve, because pipe is bulky and freight decides the market radius.

What this tells us. Their taxonomy is demand-side: who buys, what the fluid is, how the pipe goes in the ground, then the spec. Material and process are assumed. The atlas is supply-side: raw material first. So the customer's own logic was added as a fourth similarity lens, end markets served, and it carries 20% of the default score. Under that lens the neighbors are the companies selling into the same utilities, oil fields and mines, even when their plants look nothing alike.

Anchor

Score blends operating traits, regulatory regime, feedstock and end markets using the weights on the Similarity tab. Tiers are cut by rank (top 8, next 12, next 25, the rest) so they stay meaningful for any anchor; each tier shows its score range. The small line under each name shows which lens is doing the work.
